Fun at the Olympia Village Fete

29/07/2005

For Immediate Release: 29 July 2005 Fun at the Olympia Village Fete On Saturday 20 August 2005, the inaugural Olympia Summer Fete is due to take place at Olympia Exhibition Centre in Blythe Road. This is the first of its kind and has been organised by the employees of Olympia, for the benefit of the surrounding area. Starting at 13:00 and closing at 16:00, the event is set to take on a traditional village fete theme including Hot Food Stalls, Tombola, Bric-a-Brac, Face Painting, Wellie Throwing, Coconut Shy and giant games.

The fete, designed for the local community, promises to be a great day out for all the family with entertainment, competitions, stalls and refreshments. Dinner for Two at Meridiana Restaurant and an overnight stay at the London Marriott Hotel in Kensington are just two of the many fantastic prizes to be won on the day. This year a local charity, the Fulham Good Neighbour Service will benefit from the fund-raising activities that will take place. Olympia Exhibition Centre is hoping to turn the fete into an annual event. Jilly Johnson, former British top model and pop star (Blonde on Blonde), will be opening the Olympia Summer Fete at 13.00. Olympia is based at the heart of the Hammersmith and Fulham community and the fete is sure to provide traditional fun and entertainment for all the family.

Debbie Law, Olympia Customer Services Director commented: “As a major business in the local area, the fete is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for us to use our venue in the quiet time and for our staff to prove their expertise in organising events for the benefit of the community around us, and at the same time raise money for a very worthwhile local cause. I am sure the first Olympia “Village” Fete will be a real success, and I for one am looking forward to winning a coconut on the shy.”

Olympia would like to hear from companies in the local area who wish to take part in the fete or make a donation. If companies are interested please contact Louise Kiwanuka on 020 7370 2413 or louise.kiwanuka@eco.co.uk.
