It just gets BETT-er and better

02/02/2006

BETT has proved that it remains the world’s leading educational information and communication technologies show, with a 6.7% increase in visitor numbers at this year’s event compared with 2005. 28,832 members of the global teaching and learning community visited the show at London’s Olympia for four days of innovation and inspiration from over 650 educational suppliers.

The show is strongly supported by the Government and Ruth Kelly, Education Secretary, opened the event with a speech that reinforced the power technology and innovation has to boost standards of education and enable every child to achieve their full potential.

Briony Mansell Lewis, Head of Events at Emap Education, said of the success of the event;

“I’m delighted at the continued success of BETT in its central London home. It’s a real testament to the ever increasing number of exhibitors who develop innovative new products and services and really engage with our visitors. Our partnerships with BESA, the DfES and Becta help us ensure that BETT reflects latest educational policy and best practice and continues to be an invaluable source of information for educators from the UK and overseas.”

Presentations, educational features and special zones throughout the exhibition focused on a variety of areas such as new software, publishing and library resources to address the needs of teachers. Mrs Paula Maughan, Advanced Skills Teacher at Humberstone Infant School explained;

“BETT gives me a chance to learn about wider applications for the tools we already use. I get a great deal of inspiration from the show and take new ideas back to the workplace. There really is no substitute for being able to talk directly to suppliers and see their products in action.”

BETT 2006 welcomed visitors from 101 countries around the world, including government delegations from over 60 countries. BETT 2007 takes place at Olympia on 10 – 13 January, 2007 and is organised by Emap Communications. For further information on the event go to www.bettshow.co.uk
