Civils Launches Successful Breakaway Show at Olympia

18/01/2006

Civils is the UK’s largest exhibition to encompass the needs of the civil engineering industry. The show was successfully re-launched in November last year at Olympia with a new focus on networking - responding to the way this industry prefers to do business.

The relaunched show was previously part of Interbuild at the NEC and is now positioning itself, from its new home at Olympia, as the UK's definitive civil engineering showcase, covering all aspects of the industry. From manufacturers and suppliers of plant, tools and specialist services through to market-leading contractors and consultants the show highlighted all elements of the civil engineering trade. With 224 exhibitors and visitor numbers up 30%, the exhibition benefited from the intimate setting of Olympia.

The stand alone show provided visitors with the opportunity to view the latest products and innovations with the option to participate in seminars, conferences and challenges, thereby facilitating the learning process. The use of the Pillar Hall for breakfast briefings, lunches and drinks receptions throughout the show helped enhance the event and added a new dimension to the show, encouraging networking and debate.

David Pead, Publishing Director for New Civil Engineer, commented; “We have been thrilled with the success of this launch, stand alone event. To see so many visitors and exhibitors networking at the event has proved that our methodology is correct. From its new home at Olympia, we are confident that we can develop a leading show for the civil engineering industry – indeed we had 63% take up at the end of the show from this year’s exhibitors.”

Civils will be back at Olympia on 28 – 30 November, 2006.
