EC&O Venues is to welcome Volleyball to its Earls Court venue during the London 2012 Olympic Games, subject to approval from the International Olympic Committee. The sport has been relocated from the Olympic Park in East London in a move that is fully supported by its governing body and international federation. The move fits London 2012’s vision to use existing venues with established transport links to host Olympic sports in 2012.
Sebastian Coe, London 2012 Chairman, commented “The move to Earls Court will provide Volleyball with its own dedicated venue and enable us to showcase Olympic sport in an iconic venue in west London.”

“The FIVB (Federation of International Volleyball) is supportive of the proposed move of volleyball to Earls Court and understands that this is subject to IOC approval. We are excited at the opportunity to showcase both our disciplines, volleyball and beach volleyball, in central London in 2012” a spokesperson for the organisation said.
Simon Conway, Chief Operating Officer, EC&O Venues, added: “We’re delighted to have been able to work with the London 2012 Games’ organisers to bring Volleyball to Earls Court. The venue’s flexible space, central London location, excellent transport links and the amenities on its doorstep are clear influencing factors and have made Earls Court an obvious choice of Olympic venue.”
