Last Friday the Red Car Park played host to some rather familiar Welshmen as the Stereophonics took over the whole of level B2 to record the video for their new single ‘Let me introduce you to my friends’.
The idea behind the video was that the band wanted to host an intimate gig for their particularly loyal fans and ran a competition on their website for them to win the chance to be an extra in the video. Not surprisingly, the videoshoot featured several cars parked up around a very small stage, with the headlights shining onto the band, and the 200 fans – at one point, all decked out in white t-shirts and bizarre ghost-like masks – surrounding the cars, shouting the lyrics and rocking out to Kelly Jones’s amazing guitar riffs.
The shoot kicked off at about 1pm when the band members arrived, however the rest of the crew had been onsite setting up since 7.30am. The Stereophonics did about 15 run-throughs of their new song, with various camera cut aways, before finishing with a set of some of their old classics, belting out The Bartender and the Thief, Local Boy in a Photograph and A Thousand Trees. The band was incredibly laid back, mingling and chatting with all their fans in between takes and happily posing for photographs.
Toby Cook, Location Manager for the Stereophonics said: “The atmosphere down here has been really great, working at Earls Court is excellent and Paul Field has been so helpful in making it all happen and run smoothly. I have used Earls Court before for videoshoots and it’s a perfect location, particularly as it has a labyrinth of spaces and is therefore hard for uninvited onlookers to find – they may hear ‘Earls Court’ but because it’s so huge they wouldn’t know exactly where – and this is exactly what location managers want, a place where the artist or band won’t be found and can be left to get on with the shoot.”
All in all a fantastic event for Earls Court showing that we host any type of event brilliantly and people return to us knowing we will deliver.
