Earls Court played host to fashion greats including amongst others Alberta Ferretti, Erin O’Connor, Zandra Rhodes, Barbara Hulanicki and Emma Hill last night when Graduate Fashion Week held two gala events.
Both events were hosted by fashion expert Caryn Franklin, with the first showcasing some of the collections from catwalk shows staged throughout the week while also recognising those nominated for various awards. The second was by invitation only, where the cream of the fashion crop saw the presentation of the awards and the very best of the collections from the show.
The award ceremony concluded with the presentation of the River Island Gold Award which went to Rebecca Thomson of Manchester University School of Art, who won the coveted £20,000 prize. Other prize winners included Rhea Fields of Northbrook College who scooped the Womenswear Prize and Thomas Crisp of Ravensbourne who won the Menswear Prize.
Graduate Fashion Week, the UK’s largest showcase of young fashion talent, took place from 6-10 June this year in Earls Court Two.
The show, which was established in 1991, displays the work of over 50 universities and features over 20 university fashion shows each year.
Other celebrities in attendance this year included Rachel Stevens, Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud and Amelle Berrabah of the Sugababes.
